Summer may be close to over, but that doesn’t mean we should stop wearing SPF! I’m about to blow your minds with facts about Alba Botanica sunscreen!
With a history of skin cancer in our family, and fair, Irish skin that’s prone to sunburns, I’ve taken it upon myself to learn everything I can about the different sunscreen options on the market. I’ve tried mists, lotions, gels, and tints. Some smell good and some don’t. A lot of them aren’t water-resistant. Most of them have been filled with a ton of chemicals that make me feel gross about what I’m lathering onto my body.
My latest struggle has been finding products that are good for my skin, don’t cause odd reactions, aren’t greasy, and don’t include ingredients I’m allergic to. That’s been a huge challenge, because a lot of the “healthier” options include soy, avocado, or oats – all foods that I’m most definitely allergic to putting on or in my body. I was thrilled to discover that Alba Botanica offers multiple sunscreens that are not only gluten-free and vegetarian, but also don’t test on animals, include zero sulfates, parabens, artificial colors or fragrances, and – get this – don’t have any ingredients I’m allergic to!

Hawaiian Sunscreen Coconut Clear Spray c/o Alba Botanica | Hawaiian Sunscreen Green Tea Lotion c/o Alba Botanica
I’m a busy lady, and spend a lot of time outdoors when I’m running to and from meetings, sweating through photoshoots, or driving to coffee shops to get my work done.
That means a lot of sun exposure. This summer, rather than lounging by pools or beaches to get some color on my skin, I’ve opted for spray tans or self-tanner, so as to avoid the harsh rays and what they could do to my skin. When I do spend time outside, I’m reaching for my Alba Botanica Hawaiian Green Tea Lotion or Hawaiian Coconut Clear Spray. For those of you who are scent-sensitive, know that you’re safe with these products. They don’t emit any kind of intense smell. In fact, with the Coconut Clear Spray, all that you can smell is a light, tropical scent that reminds you of childhood summers by the ocean. The Green Tea Lotion has a barely-there whiff of fresh, plant-like aromatics.
A little goes a long way with these sunscreens (especially the Hawaiian Green Tea Lotion), but don’t forget to reapply often – especially if you’re spending a significant amount of time in the sunshine. Whether that’s morning yoga on your back porch, a day at the lake with your best friends, or into autumn and winter when you may be mostly bundled up, but your face is exposed. If you’re looking for two SPF products that are great for you and the environment, then know that Alba Botanica is the answer!
