So, you’re looking for bright and beautiful townhome decor, but you want to stick to a budget, and not invest too much in a temporary space. I’ve got you covered.
When my husband and I moved into our townhouse a little over a year ago, we decided that while we wanted our space to be vibrant and inviting, we didn’t want to sink all our funds into a place that wouldn’t be our forever home. I’ve talked little bits here and there about how we pinch our pennies for seasonal decor, and even how we achieved a gorgeous gallery wall in our living room for under $300. I’m excited to once again partner with Desenio to give some of my tips for achieving a stunning space without spending an arm and a leg.
Last year, I shared the moodboard for our master bedroom – and I’m happy to say that while I didn’t necessarily purchase every item on our wishlist, I did use it as inspiration to complete most of the space. There’s still a few more organizational pieces we’d like to eventually purchase, but we’re content with how the room turned out – and the focal point is our gorgeous gallery wall from Desenio.

3 tips for brightening up a small space on a budget.
add a gallery wall
Desenio makes creating a gallery wall a total breeze. One of my favorite parts of their website is where they share gallery wall templates. This is what I used for my living room, and also what I chose to utilize again for our master bedroom. I went with a medium-size template that included two 50x70cm prints. That’s where my hunt for the perfect art began. Once I nailed down my ideal combination of posters, I mixed and matched them on the template to see how I liked it laid out. Then it was easy enough to measure on the wall above our bed and hang the frames when they arrived in less than a week. It instantly made the room brighter!
use what you already have
We honestly didn’t purchase many additional pieces in order to make the room our ideal space. Start with a “blank canvas” of white bedding and white furniture, and add color from there. I had the gray pillows from before we got married, along with the comforter and sheets. We invested in the nightstands and table lamps when we moved in, and got the rug and turquoise pillows last summer. The only things we got to complete the room were the wicker baskets, throw blanket (I snagged this on clearance), curtains, and gallery wall art from Desenio. It’s amazing what little pops of color and texture can do!
find dual-purpose decor
I have our adorable “Mr” and “Mrs” wedding signs propped up on my diffuser and essential oil box. We just place them in the wicker baskets when we want to run the diffuser. We also use the wicker baskets to hide anything unsightly, like remotes, tissues, heating pads, etc. The throw blanket is often folded across my tan weighted blanket so that everything still looks nice, without having to stuff blankets away somewhere else. I chose not to purchase blackout curtains, but instead I got sheer curtains, since grey is already a dark color, and with one window in the room, I didn’t want to block out any more of the natural sunlight. But they also conceal plenty, so even when my blinds are open, I often have the curtains closed. All of these items help in multiple ways!
