I’ve found the solution for ultimate cases of “I have nothing to wear”: the sweater dress!

Seriously – it’s that time of year when you’re looking at your closet going “WTF should I put on today?” The weather is all over the place. Shucks, in RVA, we’re experiencing some serious confusion over whether to bring out winter knits or spring sundresses. It seems to fluctuate between 60° and sunny to 30° and rainy at the drop of a hat. That being said, I really don’t want to put a ton of effort into my outfit, just to change it later on in the day – so I’ve turned to accessorizing simple pieces that allow me to adapt to the weather’s January mood swings.

The sweater dress is the ideal article of clothing for these odd winter months. I’ve seen a lot of my favorite bloggers style this exact dress with OTK boots and teddy jackets to keep extra warm. If you didn’t already come away from my intro with that knowledge, let me repeat: the versatility of a simple sweater dress is unmatched. I had never realized the many perks to owning these pieces until I received this dress from Chicwish. The fit is fantastic. Usually sweater dresses are much too short on my long frame (a long torso + long legs make for quite a challenge when it comes to dresses in general), but this one hits mid-thigh and with a pair of tights beneath, I feel perfectly comfortable. It’s also warm without being stifling. I was able to layer my favorite coat over it with zero struggle, and even though it was incredibly chilly outside, I was toasty (but not sweaty). The turtleneck collar isn’t choke-inducing, so I’d consider that a major win. And of course, the black-and-white windowpane style is classy and fun without being too much – allowing you to accessorize as you please.
