While I’m not a massive fan of most trends, flare leggings are one that I can definitely get behind. Not only do I think it’s fantastic that flared pants are back in general (because they truly flatter people so much more than skinny pants do), but the concept of “getting away with” styling leggings as daily wear is so satisfying. I remember as a tween when people started wearing leggings as pants more often and it was originally looked at as pretty taboo. Since the rise of athleisure (and the dedication to comfort over the last several years), it’s become totally acceptable and there are even ways to make flare leggings work for occasions that call for a bit of dressing up.
I took it upon myself to create three looks with these houndstooth flare leggings that you can wear time and again–both casually and for nicer events. These outfits are catered to fall fashion but with a little bit of finagling, you can easily swap pieces or add layers for other seasons. It’s actually quite simple to “dress up” a pair of flare leggings for work, a date, or any nicer occasion. Here are a few outfit ideas that you can wear this fall.
Outfit idea #1 is literally the outfit I’m wearing in these photos, plus a cozy cardigan I would include on a chillier day. It’s so comfy and yet totally classy. Swap the sneakers for loafers or ballet flats and you can wear it to even more events!
Outfit idea #2 leans much more trendy with a kelly green shoulder bag and tiny sunglasses. Add a claw clip and an iced coffee and you’re all set!
Outfit idea #3 is the most professional out of the three looks, but it’s still comfy as can be with a satin cami and oversized blazer. I can almost guarantee that no one will have a clue that you’re rocking leggings instead of trousers!
