Get ready, friends, because the book releases in April are about to blow you away!
There are so many great releases in April that I couldn’t even narrow it down to just 30 (which is still a lot)! I’m so excited about several of these, like Life’s Too Short (the third installment in The Friend Zone series), The Road Trip (by one of my all-time favorite authors, Beth O’Leary), Second First Impressions (written by the author whose work was my introduction to contemporary romance), and Go the Distance (I’m currently reading an ARC of this and enjoying it thoroughly). Along with these, I discovered so many others to add to my never-ending TBR!
I noticed a few themes this month like a lot of yellow covers and contemporary fiction releases. I’m really looking forward to so many of these and I hope this list gives you some new titles to check out as well!

Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne | Release Date: April 13
Distraction (n): an extreme agitation of the mind or emotions.
Ruthie Midona has worked the front desk at the Providence Luxury Retirement Villa for six years, dedicating her entire adult life to caring for the Villa’s residents, maintaining the property (with an assist from DIY YouTube tutorials), and guarding the endangered tortoises that live in the Villa’s gardens. Somewhere along the way, she’s forgotten that she’s young and beautiful, and that there’s a world outside of work—until she meets the son of the property developer who just acquired the retirement center.
Teddy Prescott has spent the last few years partying, sleeping in late, tattooing himself when bored, and generally not taking life too seriously—something his father, who dreams of grooming Teddy into his successor, can’t understand. When Teddy needs a place to crash, his father seizes the chance to get him to grow up. He’ll let Teddy stay in one of the on-site cottages at the retirement home, but only if he works to earn his keep. Teddy agrees—he can change a few lightbulbs and clip some hedges, no sweat. But Ruthie has plans for Teddy too.
Her two wealthiest and most eccentric residents have just placed an ad (yet another!) seeking a new personal assistant to torment. The women are ninety-year-old, four-foot-tall menaces, and not one of their assistants has lasted a full week. Offering up Teddy seems like a surefire way to get rid of the tall, handsome, unnerving man who won’t stop getting under her skin.
Ruthie doesn’t count on the fact that in Teddy Prescott, the Biddies may have finally met their match. He’ll pick up Chanel gowns from the dry cleaner and cut Big Macs into bite-sized bits. He’ll do repairs around the property, make the residents laugh, and charm the entire villa. He might even remind Ruthie what it’s like to be young and fun again. But when she finds out Teddy’s father’s only fixing up the retirement home to sell it, putting everything she cares about in jeopardy, she’s left wondering if Teddy’s magic was all just a façade.

Malice by Heather Walter | Release Date: April 13
A princess isn’t supposed to fall for an evil sorceress. But in this darkly magical retelling of “Sleeping Beauty,” true love is more than a simple fairy tale.
Once upon a time, there was a wicked fairy who, in an act of vengeance, cursed a line of princesses to die. A curse that could only be broken by true love’s kiss.
You’ve heard this before, haven’t you? The handsome prince. The happily-ever-after.
Utter nonsense.
Let me tell you, no one in Briar actually cares about what happens to its princesses. Not the way they care about their jewels and elaborate parties and charm-granting elixirs. I thought I didn’t care, either.
Until I met her.
Princess Aurora. The last heir to Briar’s throne. Kind. Gracious. The future queen her realm needs. One who isn’t bothered that I am Alyce, the Dark Grace, abhorred and feared for the mysterious dark magic that runs in my veins. Humiliated and shamed by the same nobles who pay me to bottle hexes and then brand me a monster. Aurora says I should be proud of my gifts. That she . . . cares for me. Even though it was a power like mine that was responsible for her curse.
But with less than a year until that curse will kill her, any future I might see with Aurora is swiftly disintegrating—and she can’t stand to kiss yet another insipid prince. I want to help her. If my power began her curse, perhaps it’s what can lift it. Perhaps, together, we could forge a new world.
Nonsense again.
Because we all know how this story ends, don’t we? Aurora is the beautiful princess. And I—
I am the villain.

The Sweeney Sisters: A Novel by Lian Dolan | Release Date: April 6
An accomplished storyteller returns with her biggest, boldest, most entertaining novel yet—a hilarious, heartfelt story about books, love, sisterhood, and the surprises we discover in our DNA that combines the wit of Jonathan Tropper with the heart of Susan Wiggs.
Maggie, Eliza, and Tricia Sweeney grew up as a happy threesome in the idyllic seaside town of Southport, Connecticut. But their mother’s death from cancer fifteen years ago tarnished their golden-hued memories, and the sisters drifted apart. Their one touchstone is their father, Bill Sweeney, an internationally famous literary lion and college professor universally adored by critics, publishers, and book lovers. When Bill dies unexpectedly one cool June night, his shell-shocked daughters return to their childhood home. They aren’t quite sure what the future holds without their larger-than-life father, but they do know how to throw an Irish wake to honor a man of his stature.
But as guests pay their respects and reminisce, one stranger, emboldened by whiskey, has crashed the party. It turns out that she too is a Sweeney sister.
When Washington, DC based journalist Serena Tucker had her DNA tested on a whim a few weeks earlier, she learned she had a 50% genetic match with a childhood neighbor—Maggie Sweeney of Southport, Connecticut. It seems Serena’s chilly WASP mother, Birdie, had a history with Bill Sweeney—one that has remained totally secret until now.
Once the shock wears off, questions abound. What does this mean for William’s literary legacy? Where is the unfinished memoir he’s stashed away, and what will it reveal? And how will a fourth Sweeney sister—a blond among redheads—fit into their story?
By turns revealing, insightful, and uproarious, The Sweeney Sisters is equal parts cautionary tale and celebration—a festive and heartfelt look at what truly makes a family.

Jobless and forced home to Wisconsin, journalist Sabrina Monroe can tolerate reunions with frenemies and kisses from old boyfriends, but not the literal ghosts that greet her in this heartwarming tale of the power of love and connection from acclaimed author Amy E. Reichert.
For Sabrina Monroe, moving back home to the Wisconsin Dells–the self-described Waterpark Capital of the World–means returning to the Monroe family curse: the women in her family can see spirits who come to them for help with unfinished business. But Sabrina’s always redirected the needy spirits to her mom, who’s much better suited for the job. The one exception has always been Molly, a bubbly rom-com loving ghost, who stuck by Sabrina’s side all through her lonely childhood.
Her personal life starts looking up when Ray, the new local restaurateur, invites Sabrina to his supper club, where he flirts with her over his famous Brandy Old-Fashioneds. He’s charming and handsome, but Sabrina tells herself she doesn’t have time for romance–she needs to focus on finding a job. Except the longer she’s in the Dells, the harder it is to resist her feelings for Ray. Who can turn down a cute guy with a fondness for rescue dogs and an obsession with perfecting his fried cheese curds recipe?
When the Dells starts to feel like home for the first time and with Ray in her corner, Sabrina begins to realize that she can make a difference and help others wherever she is.

Will you be reading any of these new releases?
pin for later

There are SOOO many books that intrigue me in this list! Also I adore this type of articles since I really struggle with keeping myself informed of new releases! That way, it helps me make a list. Also, I’ve got a question: Do you tend to read alllll of the books that interest you?
Thanks for the amazing blog post!

I’m a huge fan of finding new books to add to my list and my Goodreads “to read” list is forever growing! I definitely try to read all the books that interest me. I might not read them the moment they are released, but I definitely try to pick them all up over time. That’s why I work so hard to plan my yearly and monthly reading lists
I knew there were a lot of great books coming out in April, but I didn’t realise there were this many. I’m really looking forward to Witches Steeped in Gold and She Drives Me Crazy, so I’m hoping they’ll get released here!
And this is the condensed list if you can believe it! I had a tough time just narrowing it down to 33! It’s a seriously great month for books, that’s for sure. I can’t wait for so many of these to come out!
Literally SO MANY of these are on my TBR haha. And others aren’t because I’m ~trying~ to control my TBR at the moment. Everyday more books release than how much I can read
That’s amazing! It sounds like your TBR is filled with some serious gems. Haha! I always just add the books I want to read and then go back later on to see if they still interest me before I pick them up from my library
Great post! Thank you for sharing all of these book recommendations! I’ll have to check out some of these books because they sound really good! I’ve heard that Beth O’Leary is an incredible author so I want to check out her books soon.
Oh, it’s my pleasure! I love sharing these new releases because the research allows me to discover new books to add to my own reading list. Beth O’Leary is one of my favorite authors EVER and I’m already 50% through The Road Trip after starting it yesterday. It’s definitely just as awesome as her others! I highly recommend starting with The Flatshare
So many incredible books coming out in April! I have The Roadtrip on my pre-order list already but I’m intrigued by quite a few on here so I’m going to look into them further and potentially pre-order one or two.
I think you’re really going to enjoy it! I started it yesterday and read over half in one sitting. If I’d had just a little more time in my day, I would’ve finished it. It’s got a really great pace to it.
I always love your recommended books, you put in your posts.

thanks, for the post!
I wish I could read all of them. SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY would be my first pick up
That’s so encouraging, thank you! That one definitely caught my eye. I think it looks SO cute!
Okay, so there are quite a few I would pick, but Dial A for Aunties and Kisses and Croissants must be mine as soon as they come out!
Those are such great choices! I hadn’t heard anything about Dial A for Aunties until I began researching for this post, but it looks fantastic!
I can’t believe how many good sounding books are released this month. The last bookshop in London sounds like just the thing I’d really enjoy.
I added that one to my TBR the literal moment I read the synopsis. It just sounds divine!
Wow, I’m so excited for these releases! Great post:)
Me too! This month is one of the most exciting yet!
I definitely put all of the Twisted Tale books in my goodreads the other day after seeing it in your currently reading list! I also just started the first book of the blood and ash series, so far I love it!
They’re really awesome books, especially for Disney-lovers. I started with Reflection and fell in love with them from there. I’ve read several more since and I thoroughly enjoyed Go the Distance! I hope you like them
SO many interesting books i hadn’t heard of! I want to read dial A for aunties!
I’m excited about that one! It looks really fun and unique!
Wow my tbr list just expanded substantially! I have to say that I’m most excited about These Feathered Flames. The cover looks gorgeous and the plot seems like something I’d enjoy. Always been a fan of Slavic fairytale inspired stories
Haha! I feel you on that. It seems mine always jumps astronomically at the beginning of each month while I write these posts. That’s a good choice for a book pick – it sounds amazing!
I love this list! You’er going to be so proud of me – I actually got some books! And one of them is Bookstore on the Beach. I’m excited to start reading again

I AM proud, you’re right! I hope you really enjoy that book – and the rest!
There are so many books I would love to read on this list. I knew there would be many book releases this month but I honestly had no idea they were this many. The road trip and second first impressions are already on my tbr list and I would love to add Life’s too short ant Twice shy to my TBR because I am trying not to take on too much hahaha. This was a great post anyways.
Good choices to add to your list. I’m LOVING The Road Trip and I know I’m going to enjoy Life’s Too Short since I enjoyed the previous 2 books in the series so much! I hope you like them all as well!
Ahh so many of these look good! I’m especially looking forward to reading the third book of the Blood & Ash series!
I know that’s a popular one for sure. I have yet to read the other books in the series, but they’re on my list for the year!
I tell myself every month that I need to stop adding books on my TBR but then interesting books pop up. I have The Infinity Courts, Malice, and Dial A for Aunties added.
Hahaha! But why do you need to stop adding new books to your TBR? That’s the fun of reading: discovering new books to enjoy over the years! I hope you like those
I loved second first impressions. I will for sure add some of these others to my TBR!
Ah, you already got to read it. How fun! I’m looking forward to it. I loved The Hating Game but hated 99 Percent Mine, so there’s a 50/50 chance of how I’ll feel on this one haha!
These sound like great April releases! I’ll have to have a look for these online! x

Also anticipating Kisses and Croissants; I have heard lovely things about it!

Oh my goodness, you have slayed this post. I had no idea this many new launches are released in general. I forget that so many books are constantly coming out but a lot of these sound like they need to be on my Kindle!
And here I am feeling like I barely scratched the surface haha! Thank you, friend
It’s been fun to see which books are coming out each month. It definitely leads to a longer TBR list on my part
Ahhh there are so many great books!!! But also pride and premeditation seems right up my street!!!
It sounds so interesting, doesn’t it? I’ve read a few reviews and from the looks of it, it’s as good as it seems like it would be!
