I’m a big fan of rereading, so my favorite books are picked up over and over again. I’ve read some of my favorites every single year for the last six years and some I’ve read countless times since childhood (here’s lookin at you, Narnia) 🙈

I love when I find a new book to add to my reread list. What was the last one you added? 🔁

I tend not to stray very far from my comfort zone of fantasy and fluffy romance, but I recently read WE’LL PRESCRIBE YOU A CAT, a translated novel about a magical mental health clinic that loans out cats to their patients. 🐈 It was absolutely fantastic in every way and became my first 5-star read of the year (outside of my rereads). 🙌🏼

Magical realism has always been a favorite genre of mine, but I usually struggle a lot with translated books. 😅 It was such a treat to immerse myself in this story and I can’t wait to read the sequel soon! 📖

February 2022 Reading Wrap-Up

I put 15 books on my TBR this past month – but was that all I read in February 2022?

After a phenomenal reading month to kick off the year (20 books in January), I thought it was about time that I raise my monthly goal from 10 to 15. Apparently, I thought it would be fun to go full overachiever for the shortest month of the year. I pretty much slapped myself silly when I realized the mistake I had made. However, that didn’t keep me from being determined to reach that goal. I decided not to push myself to read the chunkiest, slowest book on my original list, and instead, I picked up a novella and a few mangas to fill in the gaps as needed, allowing me to read 18 books total by the end of February.

It might sound crazy to you – reading over 15 books in a month – but for me, it’s so much fun. This month was awesome, not because of the number of books I read, but because I discovered several new favorites! The stand-outs in February were Wind Daughter (my most-anticipated read of the year), The Kindred (I had high hopes but wound up loving it more than I thought I would), and Crave (for which I had zero expectations and it wound up totally captivating me – and sent me into a wild book hangover)! Check out my thoughts on the rest of the titles I picked up during my birthday month.

The Kindred

by Alechia Dow

Book Synopsis

To save a galactic kingdom from revolution, Kindred mind-pairings were created to ensure each and every person would be seen and heard, no matter how rich or poor…

Joy Abara knows her place. A commoner from the lowly planet Hali, she lives a simple life—apart from the notoriety that being Kindred to the nobility’s most infamous playboy brings.

Duke Felix Hamdi has a plan. He will exasperate his noble family to the point that they agree to let him choose his own future and finally meet his Kindred face-to-face.

Then the royal family is assassinated, putting Felix next in line for the throne…and accused of the murders. Someone will stop at nothing until he’s dead, which means they’ll target Joy, too. Meeting in person for the first time as they steal a spacecraft and flee amid chaos might not be ideal…and neither is crash-landing on the strange backward planet called Earth. But hiding might just be the perfect way to discover the true strength of the Kindred bond and expose a scandal—and a love—that may decide the future of a galaxy.

Wind Daughter (Echo North #2)

by Joanna Ruth Meyer

Book Synopsis

A hauntingly beautiful fairy tale about love and loss, this Echo North companion novel is perfect for fans of the Winternight Trilogy.

In the dark, cold reaches of the north lives a storyteller and his daughter. He told his daughter, Satu, many stories–romances like the girl who loved a star and changed herself into a nightingale so she could always see him shining–but the most important story he told her was his own. This storyteller was once the formidable North Wind, but he lost his power by trading it away in exchange for mortality–he loved her mother too much to live without her. The loss of his magic impacted more than just their family, however, and now the world is unraveling in the wake of this imbalance.

To save the North, Satu embarks on a perilous journey to reclaim her father’s magic, but she isn’t the only one searching for it. In the snow-laden mountains, she finds herself in a deadly race with the Winter Lord who wants the North Wind’s destructive powers for himself.

Satu has the chance to be the heroine of her own fairy tale, only this one has an ending she never could have imagined.

The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting

by Evanna Lynch

Book Synopsis

In this profound and honest memoir, actress and activist Evanna Lynch confronts the conflict at the very core of her being: an eternal war between reaching towards perfection and fearless creativity. She has long-been viewed as a role model for recovering anorexics and the story of her casting as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films has reached almost mythic proportions. Here, she confronts all the complexities and contradictions within herself and unearths her greatest fear: womanhood.
Raw and compelling, this book showcases a startlingly accomplished new voice examining the very heart of a woman’s relationship with her own body. Refusing to let the darkness of her eating disorder overwhelm her, Evanna chooses the path of creativity and dreaming over one of self-flagellation and the empty pursuit of perfection. She dissolves the grey space between self-loathing and self-love and reaches towards acceptance of the bloody, sensual and messy glory that is the female body. This is a story of learning how to be unafraid to fail, and how that act of courage is the most creatively liberating thing a woman can do.

Then she meets Jaxon Vega, a vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. Something in him calls to Grace — something that could spell her death.

The little thief steals gold, but the great one steals kingdoms;
And only one goes to the gallows…

Vanja Schmidt knows no gift is freely given, not even a mother’s love. Abandoned to Death and Fortune as a child, she has scraped by as a lowly maidservant with her quick wits and the ability to see her god-mothers’ hands at work in the world. But when they demand her lifelong servitude in exchange, Vanja decides that gifts not given freely…can always be stolen.

When an opportunity rises to steal a string of enchanted pearls, Vanja seizes it, transforming herself into Gisele, the princess she’s served for years. As the glamorous princess, Vanja leads a double life, charming the nobility while ransacking their coffers as a jewel thief. Then, one heist away from funding an escape from her god-mothers, Vanja crosses the wrong god, and is cursed to turn into jewels herself. The only way to save herself is to make up for what she’s taken—starting with her first victim, Princess Gisele.

by Erin Sterling

Book Synopsis

New York Times bestselling author Rachel Hawkins, writing as Erin Sterling, casts a spell with a spine-tingling romance full of wishes, witches, and hexes gone wrong.

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.

That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.

Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.

18 books in one month is awesome! Looks like you read some great ones. I think When You Get the Chance looks like a book I would enjoy.

18 books is amazing! Good to hear you enjoyed Little Thieves, I’ve been really undecided about reading it but your review convinced me to add it to my TBR. Great wrap-up!

How many times have you read your favorite book or How many times have you read your favorite book or series? 🤎

I think I’d sell a kidney to live in Inglewild 😂 Small towns give me such happiness and this one seems especially cozy and filled with so many entertaining people 🙈

I kinda wish this series would last forever, but simultaneously, I just live for ANYTHING BK Borison writes 😍 I adored First Time Caller as well and can’t wait for more of that story to unfold! 📖

Have you read any of this author’s books? 🤎

I felt like I was counting down the days to Oathbound and Sunrise on the Reaping—and both of them definitely lived up to my expectations (best feeling ever)! 🙌🏼

Now to fully immerse myself in some of my fantasy ARCs and continue listening to EmHen’s latest! 🤎

Were any of these on your 2025 TBR? 📚

Who are some of your favorite book siblings? 📖 Who are some of your favorite book siblings? 📖

I really love getting the chance to see a great sibling dynamic in a book—especially in fantasy, and *especially especially* if they work together! 🤝🏼

Unseelie had the most interesting twins in it and I loved seeing their similarities, their differences, and how they used both throughout the story! 🤎

Have you read this one yet? ✨

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I tend not to stray very far from my comfort zone of fantasy and fluffy romance, but I recently read WE’LL PRESCRIBE YOU A CAT, a translated novel about a magical mental health clinic that loans out cats to their patients. 🐈 It was absolutely fantastic in every way and became my first 5-star read of the year (outside of my rereads). 🙌🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Magical realism has always been a favorite genre of mine, but I usually struggle a lot with translated books. 😅 It was such a treat to immerse myself in this story and I can’t wait to read the sequel soon! 📖

I know they say “don’t judge a book by its cover,” but let’s be real… we all do it! 😂 When I saw the cover for The Lovers, I was instantly obsessed—and then I read the synopsis! I knew I needed it in my life right away, and I wasn’t disappointed. 🤎
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This book is full of self-discovery, sapphic sweetness, and some truly hilarious moments that had me laughing til my stomach hurt. 🙌🏼 I loved every minute of it and about burst into tears when @berkleypub sent me a copy! 🥹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rebekah’s storytelling was fantastic and I can’t wait to read her upcoming book, The Sun and the Moon, when it comes out in August! 📖

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Typically, I’m someone who flies through series and prioritizes finishing them as soon as I possibly can. However, over the last few years, I’ve done a poor job completing all of the series I start, so I’m trying to make it a goal to finish them up! 👏🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some series that I’ve got on my list to finish:
📖 Girls of Paper and Fire
📖 Legacy of Orïsha (especially with the adaptation news!)
📖 Beasts of Prey
📖 The Inheritance Cycle
📖 The Atlas
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve also got several that I’d like to start… but that’s another story entirely. 🙈

Tell me just ONE of your auto-buy authors! 🫡
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I read The Charm Offensive a few years ago and instantly fell in love with Alison’s writing and the way the book made me feel so seen. 🥰
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I got an ARC of Kiss Her Once for Me, I was thrilled and once again inhaled the book. Yet again, it was a story that made me feel understood. 🥹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I pretty much sobbed my way through Here We Go Again on audio and immediately purchased a physical copy so I could put myself through both the heartache and deep belly laughing again and again. 😅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
@alisoncochrun is forever and ever going to be an auto-buy author for me. 🤎

Are you planning any rereads this year? 🔁
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rereading is something that I absolutely love to do. While there are countless new releases to get excited about, there’s something incredibly comforting about revisiting my favorite books. 🥹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of my favorite series to reread is SHADES OF MAGIC. Nothing gets me quite as excited and emotional as those opening words: “Kell wore a very peculiar coat…” 🙌🏼 AH! Just writing that makes me anxious to pick up this comfort series again this year. 🙈
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
