It’s true that August “sipped away like a bottle of wine,” but I gotta admit, my August 2024 reading didn’t go down so smoothly.
I started my reading month off super strong with The Spellshop and The Black Bird Oracle, and then strayed from my original TBR to reread Legends & Lattes. That’s where the good seemed to end. After that, it was one letdown after another, sandwiched between only somewhat decent books. Thankfully, the last novel I picked up, How to End a Love Story, was pretty good, otherwise I would’ve felt particularly disappointed with the month!
Honestly, this goes to show that it doesn’t always benefit me to attempt mood-reading. I’m definitely better at sticking with a planned TBR and usually end up preferring my reads when I stay true to that list! While I haven’t done as phenomenally with my priority 24 TBR for the year, I’m hoping to finish up as much of it as I can over the next couple of months. The ‘ber months are when I feel the most inspired, creative, and excited to read, so I’m looking forward to diving into all sorts of great stories!

I had the same experience in August, for some reason I read so many mediocre and disappointing books, it made me really sad 😔 Luckily, I had some good reads as well, most of them Manga though 😄
I’m glad to see that you enjoyed The Spellshop though, I’m planning on reading it soon 🥰
