Roses Are Red: What I Wore For Valentine's Day

Since Brandon decided to plan a secretive Valentine’s Day date and only tell me what to wear (an “evening dress” he said), I felt it was only right to be just as secretive about what I bought to wear!  I had the help of my Insta-fam via Instagram stories as I tried on a slew of dresses last week.  Of course, there were plenty of options, and truthfully another dress got the most love (but it was waaay too big on me), but when I slipped into this cold-shoulder piece from H&M, I absolutely fell in love.  I twirled around in the fitting room like a little girl and bombed my best friend with a million mirror selfies – sorry Sarah! 😂

Once home, I hid away the dress in the back of my closet.  The entire outfit came together easily in my head.  I would need a dynamite choker and a comfortable pair of heels, because who knows if walking might be involved during or after our date?!  The next day had one important task on the schedule: plan outfits for my photoshoot on Sunday.  This typically involves loud pop music blasting from my laptop while I set up my phone with a tripod and snap photos of my potential outfits – dance breaks are quite frequent!  I was nearly halfway done with this project, when Brandon came home from work and I realized he might see my dress when I took it out to style.  So, I quickly yelled “Don’t look!!!“

I felt like an absolute princess while shooting this gorgeous dress, only getting me more excited to show it to Brandon on Valentine’s Day evening.  These kinds of surprises are my favorite – something for us both to look forward to.  He ended up taking me to a restaurant called Tazza Kitchen (which was delish, by the way – their “Garnet Goose” drink and the “Gelato & Cake” were divine) and of course, he loved the dress just as much as I did!  I will always have fond memories when I pull this piece from my closet, and I’m sure that will be quite frequent throughout the rest of spring!  What did you end up doing for Valentine’s Day?

  67. This was by far my favorite dress that you had tried on at H&M! I’m obsessed with the OTS details and the fact that it’s embellished with ruffles is just the icing on the cake. The way you styled it with the delicate choker and the strappy heels just made it so fun and girly! I’m so glad that you two had such a romantic evening together 🙂
