What I Was Loving in July

Where oh where has this year gone?

We’re moving into one of my favorite months of the year – August! Why is it one of my favorite months, you might ask? Well, on August 1st of 2015, I launched my blog (under a completely different name – but that’s a whole other story). That means I’ll be celebrating three years of blogging, which just seems unreal to me! On August 8th, it’s my fiancé’s birthday! I think a few days after, we’ll be going to a baseball game and a barcade to celebrate – so it’ll be quite a weekend! August 16th of last year was the date that Brandon proposed to me … one day before our actual dating anniversary, August 17th! This year we’ll be celebrating three years together and the fact that it’s just three months from our wedding! My goodness, August is going to be busy! I sure am looking forward to it, though! What about you?

Of course, July wasn’t all that spectacular for me. I had a major gastroparesis flare-up in the middle of the month, and then came down with the flu shortly after, which definitely kept me from enjoying the peak of summer! I hate to admit the fact that I’ve yet to go to the pool or beach even once this season! It’s pretty tragic, if you ask me. However, I was able to scrounge up my favorites for this “boring” month, so keep reading to find out what I was loving!

What I Was Loving in July

Favorite Clothing Items

I’ll be honest, my Adore Me pajamas got me through this month. In fact, I raved about them so often on Instagram, that someone asked me to put together an entire post showing my pajama closet. 😂 Maybe I’ll do a mini lookbook on IGTV instead!

It seems as though cropped camis are a go-to of mine when it’s a trillion degrees outside. Shocker, right? This one in particular is super flattering, lightweight, and matches with everything!

The jumpsuit I’m wearing in this post! Sadly, the evening after I wore it, my fiancé accidentally pulled on it and the strap broke – but my mom is literally the best, and she stitched it back together so I can keep wearing it! It’s immensely comfortable and it has pockets! What more can a girl need?

Favorite Accessories

I’ve mentioned them before, but I’ll mention them again: dainty gold necklaces. Layered, charmed, whatever you please, but let it be dainty and gold. I’ve been wearing them so often I think they’re becoming attached to me.

Fun iPhone cases. This brand has some excellent choices, and they’re great quality too. I already own five from them that I rotate through depending on my outfit!

Favorite Skincare and Makeup Items

Several months ago, I watched a video by Thataylaa, where she raved about this BB Cream. Now, I’ve never been one for light coverage products because of my problematic skin – but let me tell you, this stuff is golden. It’s higher coverage than most BB creams, but doesn’t feel heavy at all. It’s pretty matte, but paired with a glowing primer it looks dewy – not oily – and stays in place all day! I’m obsessed.

I finally caved and purchased this concealer everyone has been raving about. I sure am glad I did! It hides my not-so-designer undereye bags and any redness the BB cream doesn’t cover up. It also doesn’t crease!

This serum was sent my way for a campaign, but I’ll definitely be purchasing it again. It’s made a noticeable difference in the coloring of my skin, and kept the hyperpigmentation to a minimum!

Favorite Books

I’ve been plowing through an old series that I loved back in high school. I just finished book four out of five in the Wicked Lovely collection. I’ll never get over how fantastic these novels are. So dark and gripping.

Favorite TV Shows and Movies

Queer Eye. Hands down one of the most mood-boosting shows I’ve ever watched. The Fab 5 are just my favorite humans ever.

I find unique homes utterly fascinating, so when Netflix released Amazing Interiors, I was immediately hooked. An entirely pink house? A 19th century cottage inside an airplane hangar? So intriguing.

Before getting sick as can be, Brandon and I got the chance to see both Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I’m not picking favorites here though. 😉

Favorite Food and Drinks

Waffles. I’ve just been craving waffles nonstop this past month, and I’ve satisfied that craving on numerous occasions.  Waffles are just so good.

Dragonfruit-flavored vitaminwater is an old favorite of mine. I was reminded how much I love it the other day, and now it’s all I want to drink. That and…

TEA. I mean, tea is great when you’re sick, but it’s also great when you’re not sick. I’ve been chugging peppermint tea, chamomile tea with honey and lemon, and calming tea by Yogi on a regular basis.

Favorite Music

Lauren Daigle is one of my favorite female artists (fun fact: she follows me on Twitter)! When she released her single, “You Say,” I knew I would love it – and she did not disappoint! It’s a phenomenal song.

I absolutely adore Alessia Cara’s voice. Her two newest songs, “Growing Pains” and “A Little More” are both breathtaking.

Favorite Blog Posts

This post was so much fun because I got to take the photos with my blogger bestie – who is just days away from bringing baby number three into the world! Eek!

I loved writing this post because I’m really passionate about my hair. I know that sounds a little funny, but it’s true. My hair salon is one of my favorite places in the entire city – it’s like an escape for me. The team there is on another level, and it was so fun to rave about them and the job they’ve done on my locks!

I’ve shot at this location a handful of times, but none of the posts turned out quite as special as this one.

Favorite Spots (making this for anywhere, not just RVA)

Speaking of donuts, Hot Diggity Donuts just opened up and they’re serving up some divine sourdough donuts and cocktails – along with lots of other treats. Super yummy and totally Instagrammable!

I’ve made a couple of trips up to Fredericksburg recently. Some for my bridal gown alterations, and some just to meet up with my friend, Lindsey! She’s taken me to a handful of coffee shops, but I think out of all of them, Agora Downtown has been my favorite (these photos were taken right across the street)!

  26. I am with you on where oh where has this year gone? I cannot believe tomorrow is the start of August. Absolutely crazy! Also with you on the tea drinking. I’m a huge fan of starting the day with two cups of tea and then maybe another in the afternoon. It’s just so good and great for your body!

  39. oh my god i need that jumpsuit in my LIFE!!! the color, fit, style, and print is totally perfect. you are rocking it babe. my dark circles have been pretty bad lately because i haven’t been able to sleep as well; need to try that tarte concealer and see if that’ll help! most concealers don’t do a whole lot for me so usually i just skip it hahaha. in the desert it’s such a pain to wear a ton of makeup because it’s so freaking hot! anyways, cheers to august and hopefully this month will be amazing for ya 😉 xo, sharon
