Prepare yourself: my last post was photographed in Richmond prior to my trip, written on the plane to Florida, and I talked about Florida, even though I posted it once I had returned home. This post is being written once I’m home, but was photographed in Florida, and I’ll be talking about Florida! Confused yet? 😂 I got a chance to visit FAT Village (the arts district in Fort Lauderdale) twice while on vacation with B. I have been to Wynwood in Miami, so I was pretty excited to see the smaller version that was a bit closer to where we were staying. I knew there would be a ton of color – and I was right – so I decided to keep my outfit black and white. But don’t get me wrong, friends, this outfit is anything but boring!
The second I saw this skirt on the Chicwish website, I knew I had to have it in my life (and my closet). Okay, you know those skorts you wore when you were little? Yep, the ones that were shorts beneath a skirt? This is the grown-up version! It’s ruffled, and gingham, and pure perfection. I am all about a cute mini, but sometimes get uncomfortable knowing that if I bend the wrong way, my goods are hanging out for the world to see. No need to worry with this piece, and you’d never know about the hidden shorts, so it’s seriously perfect. Plus, you can bring it into fall easily with a pair of sheer black tights and fabulous booties or OTK boots! Coming in at only $37, it’s a must-have (and still available in all sizes)!
Once I had that skirt in my possession, the next step was picking a top, and that was the easiest job in the world when I discovered this white, raw-hem, star-print blouse! I expected it to be super sheer, but with the perfect nude bra, you’re set! These pieces couldn’t have paired together any better! I got numerous compliments on this look in person and when I shared a sneak peek – from the back – on Instagram!
I kept the finishing touches super minimal, since the patterns and textures of the top and skirt spoke for themselves. My mini, quilted crossbody from Forever 21, a pair of black heels, and my Rayban dupes did just the trick. I wore this entire outfit comfortably for an afternoon wandering FAT Village, and a couple other stops in Fort Lauderdale. You will be seeing more of all these pieces throughout the autumn, because they are quickly becoming comfy favorites of mine!
What would you wear to wander an arts district like FAT Village?
