For the past three years, I have had a Fujifilm Instax Mini camera on my Christmas wishlist.
Each year, I asked my family for it, and each year I got so many other things I wanted, but never the camera. This year, on Christmas morning, I opened up a square package from Brandon, and inside was the Instax 9 in the loveliest smokey white color! I was so excited – except he had forgotten one very important thing: the film. So I finally had my camera, but no way to actually take photos with it! 😂 Of course, since everything is closed on Christmas Day, I couldn’t go out and buy some. On New Year’s Eve, I decided to take a trip to Walmart … then Michael’s … then Target … and I even called a few drugstores in the area – but they were all out of stock! I resorted to ordering some film on Amazon the next day, but it’s been nearly a month and I still haven’t taken my first photo with it! Oh well, it makes for a cute prop!
Despite my lack of film for my polaroid camera … Okay, wait. We need to clear the air here. I know Polaroid is a brand of camera. And Fujifilm is a brand of camera. However, people always call the Fujifilm Instax Minis (what I have) “polaroid cameras” and it doesn’t seem to create an issue. From what I’ve heard, the actual film that Polaroid makes fits in Instax Minis and the film that Fujifilm makes fits in Polaroid instant cameras! So am I technically allowed to call my camera a polaroid and that’s the “style” of camera rather than the brand? Oh boy, now I’m confusing myself. You tell me!
Moving on. It’s been dreadfully cold outside lately, so layers have been an absolute must. I’m not one for hats, but I sure do love a good blanket scarf. I matched mine with these fun pearl sneakers, threw a satin bomber jacket over my cozy knit sweater, and called it a day. After Brandon and I wrapped up this shoot, we headed to a local café for some chai for me and coffee for him. Despite the bitter chill, we sat outside to drink our yummy beverages, and I really wasn’t as cold as I expected to be. Needless to say, this kind of layering kept me toasty warm in frigid temperatures, so I say you should pick up a few of these pieces too! The sweater is only $20 and comes in fourteen styles! You can choose from several patterns and even some solid colors. I promise you won’t be disappointed – but you will be warm!
Do you have an instant … er, polaroid … camera? Have you found a fun way to display your photos? Let me know because I’m trying to get creative! Currently this is my inspiration!
