As much as it looks like I took a trip to Tuscany, the harsh reality is that I’m still chillin in rainy RVA, daydreaming about a warm and sunny Italian springtime. However, I was lucky enough to find this gem of a location hidden in the middle of my city, in the most unsuspecting spot! I shot here during the fall of last year, but the photos were a great deal different. This time I really drew inspiration from a spring and summer abroad, kicked off my heels, and frolicked along the stunning property (thank you so much to the owners for not shooing me away – in fact, there was another photoshoot going on just a few yards behind me at the same time)!
My main sources of inspiration come from late night browsings through Tumblr and Pinterest. I plan imaginary trips in my head to Mykonos, Bali, and Capri, and dream of barefoot afternoons in the sun, chasing after the waters of the sea, and enjoying sweet treats while working on a gloriously golden tan. I plan to draw even more inspiration from other countries when it comes to my style. I’ve always loved how classically natural the French are, and how carefree they dress in Santorini. The colors founds on the streets of Mexico call my name, and I adore the feminine touches in London.
While I’ve never visited these places (aside from lunch in Mexico one day – long story), they beckon me to try their differing styles and find ways to incorporate them into my own spring wardrobe. This light, airy maxi dress I found at Target (only $30, by the way) had me itching for a day at the vineyards! The draped, cold-shoulder top with the maxi length and side slit just screamed “springtime” and I can’t wait to continue wearing it for the rest of the season!
Which countries inspire your fashion taste? Are there particular styles or colors that call your name? I can’t wait to eventually begin my travels and experience all the differences in style throughout the world!
