An Autumn Cliche

Is it really autumn if you don’t wear any plaid?  Truthfully, plaid is probably my favorite fall pattern, but this is the first time I’ve donned it during the season.  I guess because Richmond’s weather remained very summer-like until the end of October, I didn’t want to dress like autumn when it didn’t feel like autumn outside.  As I’m typing this up, it’s 52° and raining outside, so I think I can say the weather is finally depicting the season we are in (however, I wouldn’t be shocked if it was 84° and sunny tomorrow).  Needless to say, I’m finally ringing in autumn with quite possibly the best plaid piece I’ve ever owned!

I feel as though plaid can seem like such an autumn cliche – it’s like everyone thinks it’s unacceptable to wear during the rest of the year, but let me tell you guys … I totally wear plaid into winter and then again into spring.  It’s all about picking the right colors.  For winter, opt for red, black, or even navy plaids, and then during the spring, try blush, lilac, or light gray!  Of course during the fall – specifically this fall – I chose mustard with deep burgundy (p.s. this button-up is only $19.99 and comes in three other colors)!  These colors just scream “autumn” to me, and with my new, darker hair color (thanks 1213 Hair Studio for the refresh), I felt like a walking autumn leaf – and I wasn’t mad about it.

I plan on wearing this beauty of a plaid top again when Brandon and I take our mini road trip up to Charlottesville for wine-tasting and vineyard-exploring!  Should I vlog our trip?  Here’s to more autumn adventures and cozy plaid pieces!
