Happy Black Friday, everyone! I hope you all had a magnificent Thanksgiving, surrounded by loved ones (and lots of delicious food). I’m actually writing this on Thanksgiving day, while the sweet potato soufflé is in the oven and the creamed corn is in the crock-pot. Always hustlin’! 😂 While I may have posted a fabulously comfy Thanksgiving party look last week, I held off on the truly fancy outfits until after Turkey Day, because now is when all the true parties start happening. Whether you’re a fellow blogger babe, heading out for holiday networking or brand events, or you’re someone just looking for a cute dress for a Christmas cocktail party – I’ve got you covered!
If you’re one for trends, I’m sure by now you’ve seen the luxurious Self Portrait Azalea dress that so many bloggers, celebs, and models have been donning. The first moment I saw it, I completely fell in the love with the intricate design and classy style. This gorgeous gown has a nude lining that hits just above the knee, while a floral “print” open-crochet overlay falls elegantly to a midi length. The original dress (now carried in burgundy and navy) can be purchased from ShopBop for $480, however, I found my dupe at Zaful for only $38, and I couldn’t be happier with it.
This is easily one of the loveliest dresses I’ve ever seen, let alone owned. It’s quite comfortable – not heavy in the slightest – and ridiculously flattering, especially on taller frames. Zaful offers this dress in bright red, pastel green, and robin’s egg blue (the lighter colors would be dynamite for spring). I chose this vibrant red because it’s not only a statement piece all on its own, but it’s the perfect holiday party dress! I received several compliments just while shooting the piece, so I can only imagine what would be said if I were to wear it to a formal event. It’s sure to be the highlight of the night! Since it’s such a bold gown, I chose to accessorize simply with a baby pink blanket scarf draped over my shoulders, and dainty gold and pink jewels. No need for anything too dramatic with a sizzling piece like this!
I considered writing about all of the Black Friday deals that I’m sure most of you are taking advantage of today, but since stores do their best to email you, put giant posters up, place ads in website sidebars, and generally invade all the rest of your life with their holiday sale advertisements, I chose to opt out of putting together a round-up of the best places to shop this year 😉 Maybe I’ll give some good Cyber Monday tips in a few days – since that counts worldwide, and not just in the US – but for now I’ll just say that I hope you’re either enjoying a day of rest (turkey coma, anyone?), putting up Christmas decorations, or shopping to your heart’s content!
