A Coat That IS The Outfit

I may not live in a big city, but “big city chic” is my kind of fashion!  My heart swells a little whenever I get the opportunity to dress up or even fake the fact that I dressed up – which is what I did with this outfit.  I included this coat in my “top 10 coats you need” post a few weeks ago, and then I ended up getting it for myself because I just couldn’t resist!   I’m so glad I made that decision, because I haven’t wanted to take it off since the second I pulled it out of the box!

This coat is from Chicwish – a brand I mention quite frequently here on The Espresso Edition.  You may have wondered about the quality and pricing – is it worth it?  I truly believe the answer is, “yes!”  In my several months of partnering with this brand, I have only received two items that didn’t fit how I expected them.  However, the customer service was eager to exchange my pieces and I can truthfully say that some of my most reached-for clothing items are from Chicwish (including the gingham skirt I wore all summer long)!   This coat was no exception!  It is an open-front (meaning the buttons don’t function as you would expect – the front always remains unbuttoned), and while the tweed exterior is purposefully frayed and somewhat rough as a texture, the lining is soft and comfortable.

While this coat is not incredibly thick, it is much warmer than I had anticipated.  It is what I would consider a practical statement coat.  It can be worn as its own outfit.  In fact, that’s truly what I did when I put together this ensemble.  The layers beneath the coat are just plain black because I wanted the outerwear to take center stage.  I wasn’t disappointed!  Since this coat has a tinsel-like material threaded into a vast array of colors, it matches with nearly anything, and it’s incredibly classy – so it can dress up any look.  It’s the perfect holiday outerwear!
