I donut want to imagine a world without sweets.
Truly – that pun was terrible, but I couldn’t help it! I’m gonna be honest with you guys: I’m not much of a sweets person! I would rather eat a bunch of savory food than sweet food. However, that doesn’t mean I never want sweets – and thankfully, RVA provides lots of yummy options! After strolling through of my favorite spots in the city today with my mom, I realized I wanted to write about all the best spots for sweet treats in Richmond!
How fitting is it that I happened to take these photos the other day at one of those locations? (I was about to say “stay tuned to figure out which one” until I realized the name of the shop is clearly labeled in the photo above! 😂) I will say keep reading to see more of my favorite places!

I always make sure to stop here on my birthday, because if you sign up for their rewards program, you get a free half-dozen cookies! They’re freshly baked and delicious – especially their signature Red Eye Cookie (a mixture of espresso and red velvet). Another great thing about them is that they deliver … past midnight! Late night cravings? They got you covered!
A recent discovery, this spot has some seriously delicious bubble (or boba) tea! I love their variety and the fact that they also offer puffle ice cream cones!
Where I took these photos – this donut shop is something quite unique, offering a mixture of cake and yeast donuts with exquisite toppings. Brandon and I will never agree on which is better. I love cake and he loves yeast. Which is your choice?
Whisk is the best spot in town for macarons. Excitingly enough, they’re nearing the grand opening of their own ice cream store soon – but until then, they’re selling the flavors at the bakery!
Gelati Celesti offers what I’d probably say is my favorite “ice cream” of all time. They have a bajillion rotating flavors – but I keep going back to the “Just Ask.” It’s a mixture of white chocolate ice cream with crushed Oreos and chunks of peanut butter. In other words, it’s to die for!
Another bubble tea spot that I just adore. The owner is so friendly and personal. I was shocked when she remembered my favorite flavor after months of not being able to visit! It’s not typically super busy, so this is a great spot to relax with a friend and just enjoy sipping on your drink!
I’ll never get over how divine their smoothie bowls are! I’m also a massive fan of their regular smoothies as well, and basically lived off “The Basic” while I was sick for 8 days in March. Everything they offer is fresh and delicious.
Cookie. Butter. Gelato. That’s really all I should need to say to get you to visit this spot! I about fainted when I tasted this flavor, but every one they offer is equally yummy!
I remember when Shyndigz opened and I was shocked to find out that it’s a restaurant that only offers dessert! Talk about a dream come true! I’ve never had something I dislike from their menu, and the portions are so massive, you’re sure to bring some leftovers home to enjoy the next day!
This was one of the places my mom and I stopped today that made me want to write up this post. Their cupcakes are on another level! They’re quite dense instead of being super fluffy – so even though they’re a bit smaller than a “normal” cupcake, they’ll fill you up real quick. Their cheesecake flavor is absolutely everything.
I might have to say that Duck Donuts are like opening a bag of chips. Once you have one, you can’t stop! My dad and I will go together and buy a half dozen – and then proceed to eat the entire box in one sitting. You get to choose your icing, topping, and drizzle for these donuts – so it’s a lot of fun to essentially design your own dessert!
My mom constantly begs me to take her here! Their ice cream is delicious, but it’s the option of toasted marshmallow fluff on top that really gets ya goin. They offer vegan flavors – and you’d never be able to tell that they’re any different than the regular ice cream! I love the endless options!
I mentioned this spot in my Carytown post! Not only do they have the cutest shop of. all. time. but they also offer delicious cupcakes (with gluten free and vegan options), along with alcoholic bevs and even treats for your pups!
I can’t possibly let a winter go by without stopping for their hot chocolate. It’s on another level, people. Not only that, but if I’m craving the most divine French dessert – they’ve got me covered. This is one of my favorite spots for a GNO, no matter what time of year!
I like to consider this the “original” bubble tea spot in RVA. It’s a little quirky inside, but you can chill on one of their couches, play a card game, and enjoy some delicious milk teas and ramen – and it’s walking distance from just about everything in the VCU district!
